The worst thing . . .

. . . about science is the writing. I loathe the writing even more than figuring out how to run the stats. I dislike it mainly because between how much of it I'm having to do right now and all the measuring of fish heads I'm doing at the same time, my already weak hand and wrist muscles are seriously fatigued. It's times like this when I think having voice recognition software would be a good thing.

Yes, voice software probably really would be a help. Mentally, the writing work gets easier and easier with time; physically it can get more difficult.

FridaWrites -- I've had plenty of experience writing thanks to my B.S., M.S., and five years of Ph.D training. Sometimes I like the writing, other times not so much.

Do you want mine? I think I have a copy of Dragon, but just the basic, since the advanced didn't work - which means any technical and latin would have to be added, since my voice changes very quickly once I start speaking due to lack of oxygen, I can't use it that well. Do you want Dragonspeak basic? For NT - I don't have the Vista one, or 10.

Beth -- Sure. Does it have the instruction manual? I use XP -- will your version work with that? I'll have to give you a different address because I'll be going home to Kansas for a few months. I leave in about four weeks.

No, my version is not XP compatible and it turns out, is being repossessed. Odd, I thought they GAVE it to me, but now two years later they want it back. Um, I will try to find a copy of XP compatable Dragon and a real paper or would you prefer electronic instruction manual? I will seriously look around - please forward me the address, I will put you on the brain board right now. It is $99 on Amazon but I think I can advertise for someone who is upgrading to Vista and wants to drop Dragon 9 (XP) for Dragon 10 (Vista). Having a good headset and lots of Ram helps says the people who use it.

Beth -- I'm currently using my brother's laptop, and it has Dragon on it. I don't know which version it is, and I don't have a mic. Need to check this all out.
